We highly recommend LU Design Build. They completed our whole house remodel including all three floors, a gut-rehab of our basement, moving load-bearing walls, remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as adding a covered deck.
LU presented the most innovative layout design when other firms we had bid the work chose to stay within the lines. Everyone on their team was collaborative, calling out opportunities to optimize our build. From design to project management, to carpenters to painters to electrician and the rest, all the team members were excellent.
A notable reason we recommend them is for how they handled two issues (a very small number considering the scope of the project). They presented options to resolve and told us the most important thing was that we loved the home. No hassle, just getting it done right.
LU is not an inexpensive contractor, but they are extremely high value.

We had a great experience with LU Design Build. From the first meeting with Luke and Jennifer, to the final walk through and even after that, they were wonderful.
We interviewed 2 other companies, but liked their approach and proposal the best. Jennifer was great about sending us 3-4 plumbing, light and cabinet fixtures, so we weren't overwhelmed with choices but had enough options.
Adam, our project manager, was on top of everything. The Basecamp app made communication easy and timely, and provided one easy place to find everything about the project.

We'd solicited several bids for the project and went with Lucas not only because we felt the bid was fair (not the cheapest) but also because we found Lucas himself to be someone we could work with. Lucas Updates remodeled my home office and mud room. My wife was 8 months pregnant when we signed our service contract with them and Lucas quoted us 3 weeks to complete both the Office and Mudroom. Given the timing we fully expected that the work may not get completed before Baby arrived, however we were very surprised and pleased when the work was completed on time and on budget.
During the project we requested some minor changes to the original plan. Lucas was receptive and executed the changes to meet our requests with very little impact to the timeline or budget. All told Lucas Updates was very professional and given the scope of our project presented very little interruption to our daily lives and schedule. We were extremely pleased with our final product and we would recommend Lucas Updates to family and friends.

Lucas Updates built my cypress deck, installed ceramic tile in my kitchen and marble tile in my bathroom. I feel like I have a new house! Everything looks beautiful. They did an excellent job.
The deck replaced my old 20 year old wolmanized decking. The base structure stayed but the rest was replaced with milled cypress. And it was all done on site which made me feel that it was truly a customized job.
Installation of the tile included the removal and disposal of the old flooring. They removed all of the cabinets in order to install the flooring throughout the room. Everything was done perfectly with attention being directed to every detail.
Not only did Lucas Updates do a great remodel for me, they also repaired and improved everything they touched!
Thanks for giving my house a brand new look. I find myself looking for other remodeling projects so I can hire you again!

LU Design was first class from start to finish. When getting a bid the designer and owner came to our home to find out our vision. They gathered what was most important to us and came back several days later with a bid. Never were we being sold - they listened to our goals and tailored it accordingly. Work started not long later. The BaseCamp tool they use keeps everyone involved up to date at any given point. The workers were courteous and kept the home clean. Even with a little snag during the remodel they went above and beyond to rectify the situation. My wife and I are thrilled with our new kitchen. Highly recommend!

LU Design designed and built an awesome garage for us in the Shaw Neighborhood. If you care to see it, it's on the corner of Flad Ave and Thurman. They suggested a technique for the siding called Shou Sugi Ban (look it up!) so we've got the only burnt black garage around. We absolutely love it. We hired LU Design last year to build a bar in our basement. I can't say enough good things about the work they did.
